When Should I Take A Pregnancy Test?

We know it's tempting to rush into taking a pregnancy test when uncertain about a pregnancy! Waiting at least one week after your missed period is best for the most accurate results. It gives your body time to produce a detectable amount of HCG - the pregnancy hormone. This way, you can avoid a rollercoaster of emotions even before confirming you're actually pregnant.

Do I Need An Ultrasound?

Yes, yes, and yes! While a pregnancy test is important, it does not reveal essential details of your pregnancy that an ultrasound will. An ultrasound reveals three vital details of your pregnancy that determine what choices you have next. Ultrasounds determine...
  1. If you have a viable pregnancy (healthy and growing pregnancy)
  2. The location of your pregnancy (whether it's growing within your uterus or not)
  3. How far along you are (the gestational age)

What Are the Risks of Abortion?

With abortion comes serious health risks. You deserve to learn about them before making up your mind about your pregnancy. Potential common medical abortion risks include incomplete abortion, heavy and prolonged bleeding, infection, fever, and digestive system discomfort. Potential surgical abortion risks include damage to the womb or cervix, uterine perforation (accidentally putting a hole in the uterus with one of the instruments used), excessive bleeding, infection of the uterus or fallopian tubes, scarring of the inside of the uterus, reaction to the medicines or anesthesia (such as problems breathing), and incomplete abortion.
